HochzeitsClick - Hermes

2 Videos

Summary

In the summer of 2023 I first got into business with hochzeit.click to help them increase bookings of their customers locations and reduce the workload on the operators.

After meeting up as a team of three in a Zoom call, we brainstormed ideas of how we could best represent the location, without overcomplicating things and also showing the location in depth. After realizing that the location would probably look somewhat dull without people in it, I asked Tina Ramssl, the main operator, if she could organise us supportive cast that would play the wedding guests.

Facing the challenge of organizing a good crowd of 10+ people and catching the right weather ath the same time, we managed to shoot the location just as planned before. Being surprised with a good number of 15 people that agreed to help us with the project as supportive cast, we decided to turn it into a frozen scene which we would navigate, explaining the different parts of the Hermesvilla.

After some good food and later post production, we were happy to call the videos finished and ready for web and mobile use.

How we got here

Hermesvilla

In 2023 Bernhard Fichtenbauer with whom I had already worked on another project got me into contact with Hochzeit.Click to help them showcase their customers’ wedding locations such as the Hermesvilla. Tina Ramssl, who runs the location explained that interested couples almost always needed an in-depth explanation of how the wedding could go down at the Hermesvilla. As the process of explaining the possibilities of organizing a regular wedding was exhausting and time consuming for her, she was happy with our idea to summarize it all in a video.

So Bernhard, Tina and I met up in a Zoom call and brainstormed different Ideas and angles of how we could best showcase the Hermesvilla for future weddings. With our video the customers would have a clear image of how the location would feel like with wedding guests.

Given the context and the circumstances it was apparent to me, that the place would not look very appealing without people in it. So we came up with the idea of doing the shoot with around 15 people as supportive cast, knowing that it might be quite a challenge to get such a crowd together. Sure enough Tina did her magic and succeeded.

Surprised with such a large number of free actors, we came up with the idea of doing a frozen scene for every point of interest in our journey. As in many shoots, being dependent on the weather can be difficult, especially when relying on quite a view people. So we kept space in our schedule for two successive days for the shoot in order to be flexible with the weather, and then we got to work.

Tina Ramssl also informed us that many ceremonies are held in a very special place at the Hermesvilla, the Tilgnersaal. The Hermesvilla is primarily a museum and locations like these derive their main value out of places like the Tilgnersaal, so that a permission for publication was needed. Since we were already quite close to our shooting day, we ended up with no such permission at the day of shooting.

Flexible with ideas and implementation, we therefore decided to shoot two versions that would match well in post-production. One, including the hall and a second one without it, not to be left with a video without publication allowance.

As the shooting day got to an end I could tell that everybody loved the ideas put to work. Supporting cast members also did their best in freezing the scenes and playing along with us. Surely the promise of some good food at the end motivated them to perform even better 🙂

I personally would call the project a clear success.

During the shooting I also kept in mind that we would do a vertical version of the video, too, to please mobile platforms with the delivery. After a revision and a few minor changes in the edit, we were happy to declare the video ready for use.
